SANGAREDDY, July 1, 2025 – The death toll in the Sigachi Industries pharma plant explosion in Pashamylaram has sadly risen to 34, a senior police official said. The incident on June 30 is feared to have resulted from a chemical reaction.

District Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj informed that rescue operations are still in progress, with multiple bodies recovered from the rubble. A total of 31 bodies have been recovered from the debris, and three persons died of their injuries in the hospital,” he said.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is to visit the accident spot to take stock and condole the family members of the victims following the tragedy. The chief minister’s visit was confirmed by Health Minister C. Damodar Rajanarasimha, who also condoled the tragic occurrence.

Sigachi Industries Limited, the firm in question, has expertise in the manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), intermediates, and excipients. The blast has raised grave issues regarding safety protocols in the chemical production industry.

With investigations ongoing, authorities will delve into examining the available safety measures at the plant to avoid such unfortunate incidents in the future.
