Katihar, Bihar – A tragic road accident in Bihar’s Katihar district claimed the lives of eight people and left two others injured. The incident occurred near the Sameli block office on National Highway 31 during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
According to police reports, the accident was a head-on collision between an SUV and a tractor. The SUV passengers were returning from a wedding function when the collision took place. The impact was so severe that all eight victims, reportedly men, died on the spot. Two others sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a nearby government hospital.
Details of the Incident
Katihar Superintendent of Police (SP) Vaibhav Sharma confirmed the details, stating, “At least eight persons, all men, died and two others were injured when an SUV in which they were travelling collided head-on with a tractor coming from the opposite direction.”
The victims are believed to be residents of Supaul, and efforts are underway to identify them. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigations are ongoing.
Another Tragic Accident in Bihar
In a separate incident on Monday, a man was killed and another injured in Begusarai district when a speeding SUV, belonging to a Block Education Officer, collided with a motorcycle. The accident occurred on State Highway 55, and the driver of the SUV was apprehended by locals after the crash.
