Khalistani Leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun Issues New Threat Against Ayodhya Ram Temple

Khalistani separatist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has issued a threat targeting Hindu temples, including Ayodhya’s Ram Janmabhoomi temple, in a video released by the banned group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). In the video, Pannun warned of potential attacks on November 16 and 17, stating intentions to “shake the foundations of Ayodhya, birthplace of the violent Hindutva ideology.” The video also features footage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the temple during its inauguration in January.

Additionally, Pannun advised Indians in Canada to avoid involvement in Khalistani attacks on Hindu temples. This is not his first such warning; last month, he cautioned Indians against flying Air India between November 1 and 9, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the 1984 Sikh genocide.

Declared a terrorist by the Indian government in 2020 under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), Pannun holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Canada, with numerous warrants issued in his name. There has been a reported rise in attacks on Hindu sites in Canada, including acts of vandalism and public threats against the community.

Recently, a clash between Khalistani supporters and the Hindu community took place in Brampton, prompting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to condemn the violence. “The acts of violence at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton are unacceptable,” Trudeau stated, expressing support for Canadians’ right to practice their faith freely and commending Peel Regional Police for their swift response.
