Jaipur: In a tragic accident in Rajasthan’s Sikar district, twelve people lost their lives, and around 30 others were injured when a private bus rammed into a flyover wall on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred in Laxmangarh when the bus, reportedly coming from Salasar and overcrowded with passengers, crashed into the wing wall of the flyover while making a turn.
District Superintendent of Police Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav stated that the bus was speeding, causing the driver to lose control, which led to the collision with the flyover. The impact crushed the right side of the bus, killing the driver instantly. A crane was brought to rescue the passengers trapped inside the mangled vehicle.
Sikar IGP Satyendra Singh confirmed that twelve passengers had died in the accident. Many injured were taken to Jaipur for advanced treatment, while others received medical care at SK Hospital in Sikar.
Among the victims identified were Vinita, Seema, Kiran Kanwar, Kamla, Banarasi Meghwal, Aditya Meghwal, and Pramod Singh. Authorities are working to identify the remaining deceased. The passengers were mostly local residents, and their families have been notified.
In response to the tragedy, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed his condolences on social media, calling the accident “extremely sad and heartbreaking.” He directed officials to ensure that the injured receive proper treatment and offered his prayers for the departed.
Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee President and Laxmangarh MLA Govind Singh Dotasra also conveyed his sympathies, saying, “My deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones in this tragic accident. We have coordinated with local officials to ensure immediate treatment for the injured and provide all possible assistance.”
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest that speed and overcrowding may have played a role.
