A suicide attack struck a wedding celebration in Pakistan’s Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province late Friday night, killing at least five people and injuring several others, officials said.

The explosion took place at a private residence where a wedding ceremony was underway. Guests were gathered for the celebration when the attacker detonated explosives inside the premises, causing panic and severe damage to the building. Parts of the structure reportedly collapsed following the blast.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and began evacuation and relief work. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals, where emergency services were put on alert. Some of the wounded are said to be in critical condition.

Security officials confirmed that the incident was a suicide attack. The area was immediately cordoned off, and investigations were launched to determine how the attacker gained access to the venue. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

Local authorities expressed concern over the targeting of a civilian gathering and said security measures would be reviewed in the region. The attack has shocked residents, as weddings are traditionally seen as moments of joy and community celebration.

The incident adds to ongoing security challenges in parts of northwestern Pakistan, where violent attacks have occurred in the past. Officials said further details would be shared as the investigation progresses.
