Washington — U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Israel to immediately stop bombing Gaza, saying the conditions for releasing the remaining hostages hinge on a safer environment. His appeal came hours after Hamas announced it had accepted parts of Trump’s peace proposal, including relinquishing power and releasing all remaining captives.
In a social media post, Trump wrote: “Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that we can get the Hostages out safely and quickly!” He added that now is the time for diplomacy, not destruction, and expressed belief that Hamas was ready for lasting peace.
Hamas, however, offered a more cautious statement. While they agreed to several elements — including the return of hostages and a shift in governance —otros provisions would need further dialogue among Palestinian factions. They made no mention of disarming, which remains a major sticking point.
Israel’s reaction has been muted so far. The government has indicated it’s open to implementing parts of the plan, but has not committed to halting its military campaign immediately.
As the world watches, the pressure is mounting on all sides to turn bold words into action — before more lives are lost in the crossfire.
