In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old man named Haris was shot dead by four masked, bike-borne assailants in Aligarh’s Telipada area during the early hours of Friday. The attack, which took place around 3:15 AM as Haris was preparing for ‘sehri’ (the pre-dawn meal during Ramzan), was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.
The footage reveals Haris standing near his residence when two motorcycles approached. The pillion riders opened fire, discharging multiple rounds. Despite Haris’s attempt to shield himself, he was struck several times and collapsed. The assailants ensured his death by firing additional shots before fleeing the scene.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Mayank Pathak stated that preliminary investigations suggest personal enmity as the motive behind the attack. However, authorities are exploring all possible angles, and the victim’s family is being questioned to uncover further details.
The brutal nature of the crime has raised concerns about safety and law enforcement in the region. Authorities have intensified efforts to apprehend the perpetrators, analyzing the CCTV footage for leads. The community remains in shock as the investigation continues.
