Hyderabad – A pulmonologist residing in Vivekananda Nagar, Kukatpally, has tested positive for COVID-19, health officials confirmed on Friday, May 23. The case comes as COVID-19 cases begin to rise again across India, prompting heightened vigilance from the Telangana health department.

Dr. C. Uma Gauri, the District Medical and Health Officer of Medchal–Malkajgiri district, confirmed the case. The doctor followed isolation protocols for five days and has since fully recovered. Contact tracing has been completed, and no symptoms have been observed among the doctor’s family members or close contacts. Medical authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.

The public has been advised to report any symptoms such as fever or respiratory issues to the health department immediately.

Telangana Health Department’s Response
