Jaipur: The Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) on Wednesday organized a massive protest in Jaipur alleging large-scale irregularities in the state’s voter list. The demonstration, led by PCC President Govind Singh Dotasra, witnessed the participation of several senior Congress leaders, including Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Secretary Dr. Mohammed Shoaib, who played a significant role in mobilizing supporters and addressing the issue.
The protest began at PCC headquarters at 12 noon, where leaders and workers raised slogans against the Election Commission, accusing it of failing to address the discrepancies in the electoral rolls. The march proceeded towards the Shaheed Smarak, covering approximately two kilometers, with participants carrying party flags and placards demanding transparency in the voting process.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, senior leader Sachin Pilot, and other top Congress figures joined the march, voicing strong concerns over what they termed “vote theft.” They alleged that numerous names of legitimate voters had been removed from the rolls, while fake entries had been added to influence the upcoming elections.
Speaking to the media during the protest, Dr. Mohammed Shoaib emphasized that safeguarding the integrity of the voter list is essential for democracy. “Free and fair elections are the foundation of our system. Any attempt to manipulate the voter list is an attack on democratic rights, and we will not remain silent,” he stated.
The protest also saw the participation of a large number of MLAs, party office-bearers, and grassroots workers. The leaders handed over a memorandum to the Election Commission, demanding immediate rectification of the alleged irregularities.
The Congress party announced that it would continue to hold similar protests across Rajasthan until the Election Commission takes decisive action to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.
