China Backs Pakistan, Calls for Fair Probe into Pahalgam Attack_ - Citizen News Daily

Amid rising tensions in Jammu and Kashmir, China has expressed strong support for Pakistan and urged a “fair and thorough investigation” into the recent terror attack on a tourist vehicle in Pahalgam, which left one person dead and six others injured.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry, in an official statement on Friday, condemned the attack and called for an impartial probe. “China opposes all forms of terrorism and extends deep condolences to the victims. We hope that the Indian authorities will conduct a fair and transparent investigation and ensure accountability,” the statement read.

The attack, which took place earlier this week, targeted a vehicle carrying tourists from various Indian states. The incident led to widespread outrage and has further strained the already fragile security situation in the region.

Pakistan had earlier accused India of “failing to protect innocent lives,” demanding international intervention. Following Islamabad’s claims, China’s endorsement has raised diplomatic concerns in New Delhi.

Indian officials have dismissed Pakistan’s accusations, calling them “baseless and politically motivated.” Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that India is fully committed to a thorough investigation and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

The timing of China’s statement is seen as significant, especially as regional and international powers closely monitor the developments in Kashmir. Experts believe that Beijing’s move to back Pakistan might complicate diplomatic relations further, given India’s sensitivity towards external comments on its internal matters.

Security has been tightened in Jammu and Kashmir after the attack, with additional forces deployed in sensitive areas. An investigation led by senior police officials is underway, and preliminary reports suggest the involvement of foreign-trained militants.

The Indian government has reiterated its commitment to protecting civilians and maintaining peace and security in the Union Territory. Home Minister Amit Shah assured Parliament that “all necessary actions will be taken to dismantle terror networks operating in the region.”

The Pahalgam incident has also reignited global debates on the security of civilians and tourists in conflict-prone areas, as India continues its efforts to revive tourism and normalcy in Kashmir.
