IPL 2025 KKR Outclasses CSK with Dominant Eight-Wicket Win at Chepauk - Citizen News Daily

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) delivered a powerful performance at the Chepauk Stadium on Saturday night, defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by eight wickets in a one-sided IPL 2025 contest. The victory was led by a solid bowling effort and a confident chase, as KKR cruised to their target with 26 balls to spare.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, KKR’s bowlers kept things tight, restricting CSK to just 146/8 in their 20 overs. Star pacer Mitchell Starc struck early, dismissing Ruturaj Gaikwad (10) and Shivam Dube (3) in a fiery opening spell. The middle order failed to capitalize, with only Moeen Ali (38 off 29) showing some resistance before falling to Sunil Narine.

CSK’s innings never gained momentum as KKR bowlers maintained disciplined lines. Vaibhav Arora and Andre Russell also chipped in with crucial breakthroughs, ensuring CSK posted a sub-par total on their home ground.

In reply, KKR got off to a solid start with opener Phil Salt playing a blazing knock of 56 off 32 balls, laced with seven boundaries and two sixes. He was well-supported by young Angkrish Raghuvanshi (44 off 36), who continued his consistent form this season. The pair put up a 93-run partnership, effectively sealing the match before the 14th over.

Venkatesh Iyer (21*) and Shreyas Iyer (14*) finished the chase without much trouble, guiding KKR to 147/2 in just 15.4 overs. With this emphatic win, KKR continues its strong run in the tournament, moving up in the points table, while CSK will need to regroup after back-to-back losses.

This victory also marks KKR’s first win over CSK at Chepauk in several years, ending their losing streak at the iconic venue.
