Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that any strike on Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei would lead to an “all-out war” with Iran. His statement comes at a time of rising tensions between Iran and the United States, along with growing unrest inside the country.
In a message shared on social media, Pezeshkian said that attacking Iran’s top leader would be treated as a direct attack on the Iranian nation. He added that such an act would not be taken lightly and would trigger a strong response.
The Iranian president’s remarks followed sharp political exchanges in recent days. US President Donald Trump had spoken about the need for “new leadership” in Iran, adding to already tense relations between the two countries.
Iranian officials have also criticised the United States over economic sanctions. Pezeshkian blamed Washington for Iran’s financial hardships, saying that long-term pressure and sanctions have made life difficult for ordinary Iranians.
The warning also comes during a sensitive period for Iran, as protests and security crackdowns have led to international concern. While Iran’s leadership says it is dealing with unrest in the interest of national stability, rights groups and observers have raised concerns over the use of force.
