Israel, Hamas Agree to Ceasefire Under Trump’s Peace Plan - Citizen News Daily

Washington — In what many are calling the most significant breakthrough in months, Israel and Hamas have agreed to a first-phase ceasefire crafted under a U.S.-brokered peace plan. The deal promises the release of all 20 living hostages this weekend and an Israeli troop withdrawal from major parts of Gaza.

President Donald Trump announced the agreement on his social platform, calling it a milestone: “This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu echoed optimism, writing that with “God’s help we will bring them all home” and describing the deal as a moral and diplomatic victory.

Hamas confirmed they have signed off on the first phase, affirming consent to the ceasefire, troop pullback, delivery of aid, and exchange of prisoners for hostages. They called on guarantors—including the U.S., Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey—to ensure timely implementation.

Under the terms, the hostages are expected to be freed within 72 hours of signing. In return, Israel will begin rearranging its military posture in Gaza.

While the deal offers hope after two years of relentless conflict, much remains to be resolved. The plan’s later phases—covering disarmament, governance, and reconstruction—are already under scrutiny. Both parties and global mediators now face the crucial task: to turn promises into reality before trust is broken again.
